The Life and Times of Coach Nick.
I grew up split between Vancouver BC and Yellowknife NWT. I played basketball all through grade school and high school. In the Northwest Territories I played for the Territorial team and got to compete versus other provinces at Canada Summer Games & Western Canada Summer Games.
I have been coaching basketball for the last 25 years or so. My adventures in basketball have taken me all over Canada. The journey started in the Northwest Territories in 1999 when I first got into coaching after my playing days. I was a 19 year old assistant coach for the NWT Territorial teams at the 1999 Western Canada Games.
The past couple of decades have taken me all over Canada. Some highlights have been- traveling to the Easter Arctic running basketball related activities for the Nunavut Basketball Association and to the West Coast of Vancouver Island running player development camps for the Indigenous Sport and Physical Activity & Recreation Council.

In High School I was a pretty good player. That led to playing at Vancouver Island University in Nanaimo & Fanshawe College in London, Ont.
My coaching stops have been in the Northwest Territories, Augustana University in Camrose AB, GP Vanier Secondary School in Courtenay BC and I’m now the current assistant coach with the Thompson Rivers Men’s Basketball program.
I would like to be a mix of a sport journalist that covers in depth sport stories beyond just the scores and highlights. Deep dives into athletics and the nuances of sports. And I would like to mix that with Photojournalism.
Being able to tell stories with the help of photographs and videos. My project will be dive into the life of University Athletics.
